Wolves have signed Brazilian midfielder Andre from Fluminense in a deal that could be worth up to £21m.
Andre won the Copa Libertadores (South America’s equivalent of the Champions League) with Fluminense in 2023 and made five appearances for the team.
He arrives at Molineux for an initial fee of £18.5m, plus add-ons of up to £2.5m.
The 23-year-old expressed his desire to move to the Premier League earlier in the transfer window, but a move to Fulham ultimately fell through.
Speaking about their latest recruit, club sporting director Matt Hobbs said: “I thought we would miss him, so I’m absolutely delighted he’s joining us.
“He’s in great physical shape, and we think he’ll thrive in the Premier League. This is a player we picked on the way up—he’s not going to come to us on the way down winning trophies.”
The West Midlands club also signed England goalkeeper Sam Johnstone from Crystal Palace for £10m and signed Ajax winger Carlos Forbes on loan.
Forbes, 20, joined Ajax from Manchester City in 2023 but has not made an appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side.
The Portugal U21 international made 37 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 3 goals, and has made 6 appearances for Ajax this season.
Andre’s arrival means they have signed seven players this summer, including England Under-21 midfielder Tommy Doyle, Portuguese winger Rodrigo Gomez and Brazilian defender Pedro Lima, French youth international defender Bastien Mepiu, and Norwegian forward Jürgen Strand Larsen on loan from Celta Vigo.
Meanwhile, Fabio Silva has left the club and joined La Liga side Las Palmas on a season-long loan. Wolves broke their transfer record in 2020 by signing 18-year-old Silva from Porto for £35.6m.
