Tragic Death – 36-year-old Nigerian lady dies during BBL surgery in Lagos

A 36-year-old woman, Abiola, died while undergoing buttock augmentation surgery (BBL) at a clinic in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State. The tragedy, which shocked society, occurred around 3pm on Monday.

Abiola reportedly left her home at Sangotedo Diamond Estate, Ibeju Leki, with the specific purpose of undergoing cosmetic surgery and instructed her driver to take her to the clinic where the surgery would be performed.

When she arrived, the clinic owner quickly instructed a nurse to administer the injection as part of the procedure. However, what started as a routine beauty treatment quickly escalated into a crisis. After receiving the injection, Abiola’s condition deteriorated rapidly.

She lost consciousness almost immediately, and her breathing became labored and irregular, alerting clinic staff.

As a precautionary measure, Abiola was rushed to Lekki Phase 1 Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

In response, the Lagos State Police Headquarters swung into action, with spokesman Benjamin Hundein reporting that a suspect had been arrested on Tuesday. Hundeyin explained that the driver of the deceased reported the incident to the Maroko department, and the body was sent for autopsy. The nurse who administered the injection has been detained, and an investigation is ongoing.
