The Dambai Police Command has arrested Yaw Nimoah, a 26-year-old farmer, for reportedly killing his mother, Madam Salomey Ama Serwaa, a 60-year-old woman, with a pestle in Yabram, a suburb of Dambai, the regional headquarters of Oti.
Mr Philip Kwadwo Bidaba, an Assembly member from Kwame-Akura East Electoral Area, informed the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that suspect Nimoah has a long history of threatening his mother with a cutlass on multiple occasions.
He stated that the suspect’s attitude had become a source of concern for the neighborhood, and that he had previously threatened a neighbour with a cutlass, which led to his arrest; however, he was eventually released.
Mr Bidaba told GNA that he received a panic call from a good Samaritan who saw the suspect begging for aid, stating that someone had broken his mother’s head.
According to the Assembly member, he and his Unit Committee Chairman raced to the scene, where they discovered the woman lying in a pool of blood on a mat, her head shattered.
