Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from husband Ben Affleck on Tuesday after two years of marriage.
The Hollywood power couple tied the knot in July 2022 in Las Vegas. Lopez announced their marriage on her website, sharing at the time: “We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. Love, it turns out, is patient. Twenty years of patience.”
The couple held their second wedding in Georgia the next month.
The two have been linked for decades, ever since they began dating seriously in the early 2000s. The couple got engaged in 2003, but postponed their wedding and eventually went their separate ways.
Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005; they announced their separation in 2015 and finalized their divorce in 2018.
In 2004, Lopez married her third husband, singer Marc Anthony. They announced their split in 2011 after seven years of marriage. The former couple share 16-year-old twins Max and Emme.
Lopez and Affleck rekindled their relationship after Lopez split from ex-fiancé Alex Rodriguez in 2021.
In 2022, Lopez spoke about her blended family in an interview with Vogue, explaining that it’s something that “needs to be handled very carefully,” adding that “so far it’s going great.”
Earlier this year, Lopez opened up about her foray into film and said Affleck encouraged her work.
“Ben said this to me. I was like, ‘I don’t write, I don’t do this,'” Lopez said. “He said, ‘You do it. You write, you direct, you produce, you do everything. Start getting involved in the field. Start owning a little bit. Start owning a little bit of who you are,'” Lopez said during the speech.
