Ghanaian rapper and songwriter Kweku Darlington has opened up about the difficulties that led him to take a year-long hiatus from music.
According to the rapper, he was mentally attacked by some friends who later became his enemies and wanted to end his career.
In a recent interview with JoyPrime TV, Kweku Darlington said the serious attack caused him to put his music career on hold as he was “mentally buried.”.
The “Sika Aba Fie” hitmaker claimed that his illness was caused by a quarrel between him and two other friends.
“Last year, I was depressed all year long. It was so bad for me. I had some friends who turned into enemies. It’s so far away when you get to a place like Juju. It’s crazy, so you don’t have that all the time. Hear my news. It’s even peeling off my skin; I can’t go out.
The whole idea is to lock me in so I can’t get out because I’m dangerous when I’m outside because I make music and stuff like that.
“In short, I was buried with only my head hanging out. I was sick for a whole year. I didn’t eat; my mom was always crying,” he shared.
He said he sought treatment from multiple hospitals and herbalists but saw no improvement until he joined a Christian fellowship in the Atwea Mountains and received divine intervention.
“It’s not a hospital thing; it’s a hospital thing. “It’s a spiritual thing. Starting with my eye, I went to the clinic and they did everything they were supposed to do, but they couldn’t find the cause. They gave me medicine, injections, and glasses, but nothing happened.
“This is the congregation I used to join when I was at Mount Atwea. I was there and they were able to determine what happened to me. Then we had to clean up all of that before I started taking drugs,” he recounted.
He continued: “I had a misunderstanding with someone, but I didn’t take it seriously because the kids, the kids… it wasn’t supposed to get that serious; just two friends, a boy and a girl.”
