Actor and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament-elect for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has paid a touching homage to his late father, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr., who died only days before his swearing-in.

The actor, who recently defeated Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the incumbent MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon in the recent elections, shared an emotional post on X (formerly Twitter) about receiving a call moments after a conversation with his father informing him that he had stopped responding.

The 75-year-old father, whom Dumelo characterized as not only a parent but also his “best friend” and “number 1 cheerleader,” had spent the previous day discussing politics, farming, business, and even gossip with his son.

Dumelo rushed to the hospital, saddened to learn that his father had died. In his tribute, the MP-elect conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to his father for his lifelong guidance, support, and affection.

“Thanks for being my father, thanks for being my best friend, thanks for being my number 1 cheerleader, and thanks for everything you did for me,” wrote Dumelo in a reply.

He sent a touching greeting to his mother, who died in August of last year, adding, “Say hello to mom for us.We will miss you. Rest in perfect tranquility,” he said.

The loss comes at a critical time for Dumelo, who is about to be sworn in as an MP, ushering in a new chapter in his political career.
